If you are a woman, you are no stranger to body policing. People will be pointing fingers at you no matter how beautiful you feel or successful you are. All women (and some men actually) can relate to the way people judge them by the flaws and what they can do to feel better.
We are seeing all these
images that we must look like in order to "look good" in this
product. I am naturally small-boned. I have slowly come to accept this fact. It
has been a long battle that even when am skinny, I still look different from those
girls
in the magazines. I have learned to accept that this is who I am and how
I look with flaws and all. I was meant to be this way.
It is disturbing that
people see fat and assume that someone is unhealthy. The reason that diet
products and fat-free foods are largely sold and aimed at women is because some
women live on diet for fear of gaining weight. When a skinny person is pounding
back a double cheeseburger and washing it down with deep fried chips and large
cold drink, you can be sure that they won’t be subjected to stories.
The stigma attached to
being fat these days makes the larger ladies hang their head in shame
regardless of how confident you are, words and fingers are hurtful for
something you did not choice to be. While slender girls have fear of gaining weight
but bottom line is all ladies need to feel beautiful and confident in their own
skin.
From the social and media
perspective, one would believe skinny people don’t get life-threateningconditions. Not even a doctor can look at a person and immediately tell that
they are unhealthy.
It is time for the society
to understand that beauty come in all shapes and sizes
This is true! Society must stop defining beauty by how u look or how big or small you are, it is not fair to women
ReplyDeleteNot fair at all. Thanks
Deleteyour blog speaks truth beauty is within the eye of the beholder
ReplyDeletevele you dont have to be skinny or have a figure to be hot you can be fully figured and sttill be hot just like ME
ReplyDeleteTumi that is exactly the objective of this blog, to see yourself as you feel. Thuli true ey. thanx for the comments;)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog girl , I too have started to accept my body just how it is.I have stopped trying to gain weight just so i can look my real age.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Embrace it!
ReplyDeleteWell I have to be the stray dog here and state my observations throughout, I am a tall and slender young man and regardless of the amount of food i eat, i never seem to gain weight. My plate of food can be consumed by 4 of those weight-minding "freaks". My point here is that food does not make you fat, it is the stigma in your mind that makes you fat. Again being small bodied does not guarantee being healthy. Be who you are and forget what idiots think, after all God created you as you are.
ReplyDeleteFood does make people fat, especially if your body has already have a lot of body .Skinny people do not have a lot of body fat therefore it is hard for them to be fat no matter how much they eat.
ReplyDeleteWe are human beings and judgement will be one of the traits we have, you eat too much people will look at you with that eye o_O and media mediums will often tell you that eat this to look this way. All am saying is its your choice to do things by the standard of society or your own way which is more important:) thNx guys for the comments
ReplyDeleteWe are all wonderfully and fearfully made , great blog .Thanks Charmaine
ReplyDeleteI am 'PHAT' pretty, hot and thick and I know that God made no mistake, I like the way that you addressed the fact that 'when a person is seen as fat, people already assume that they are unhealthy' so true hey and I have personal experience to that. Growing up being a chubby kid was'st always easy because I was always associated with food or always loving food especially unhealthy food and that is not the case, I eat the same food and the right amount that should be consumed.
ReplyDeleteanother thing that people do dont know is what we call BMI (body mass index) and that is the only way one could know if they are under or over weight, well i had mine checked and i am sitting on 32 which means i am slightly overweight, the nornal bmi must be 30, so people better check that before they open their big mouths
#sorry for the long comment, ust had to express that
Toka, true that ey we all BEAUTIFUL:)
ReplyDeleteDaz,lol dont apologise I like your attitude and confidence about your body:) i mean hello how many of us even knew about BMI before ur comment? your body doesnt have to be labelled or defined.
thanx girls
You know there is this proverb and it says " A white cow has no milk" this simply means that, a beautiful woman might be harmful or an evil. So whether you look sexy or beautiful it doesn't matter, what matters is your inner being.
ReplyDeleteYea thats true, you might be beautiful outside but your heart might be something and often that will reflect outside
DeleteMedia has dictated how we should look or even what is beauty and not. It is not fair that we are compared to next girl, we are different and it is time that we love enjoy being in the sizes we are.
ReplyDeleteI believe it's all about confidence in yourself. Afterall these girls next door are often photoshoped, have make up on and been edited
DeleteThe media has a huge influence on how a woman is expected to look, personally I think its up to you as a person whether you allow their message to affect you or not. I'm a woman and I don't live my life the way the media expects me too, so what if in not thin am still beautiful just the way I am. Nice blog enjoyed reading it.
ReplyDeleteI feel like listening to the media will make one lose their identity and personality because media's definition of beauty changes, its seasonal and as a person following them you will consitently evolve. Thanx girl, these more coming;)
