Happiness powers you to the top

You may be waiting for success to make you happy. But be realistic, are you certain it is forward not backward thing to do for your future?? If you develop your own true core it changes how you feel about yourself and decisions with a positive mindset, your energy all rises because internal happiness stirs up success.
Some of the richest people such as celebrities are miserable and resort to alcohol and substance abuse for happiness. Being successful doesn’t guarantee happiness but it is the other way around “happiness can help your achieve success”. A number of studies have been made to prove the theory, psychologist Professor Sonja Lyubomirsky and colleagues have pointed out there is plenty of evidence that happiness can, in fact, lead to success (Lyubomirsky, King & Diener, 2005).

The energy you have when you are happy will connect you to the relevant people to channel you for success. Greater productivity can be achieved by a positive attitude because when you happy, you do well. Findings says when you are in a happy mood, you are likely to feel:

Talk to others
Enjoy those social interactions and leisure activities
Resolve conflicts effectively
Feel healthier
our confidence in our own abilities
Empower yourself to put happiness first, success will sooner than you expected

my mind makes me

We especially women we harsh and crucify ourselves on the things we do and how we look. I AM on Vuzu TV has inspired me to write this entry because it made me realise that we have to grow a thick skin in order to take criticism well not as a personal attack.

A TV personality and model, Lerato Kganyago mentioned how she struggled to get into media industry because the casting agencies told her she is too skinny “I was told I am too skinny for the role” she said. Yet again another prominent radio dj, Anele Ndoda had a similar experience only difference is she was told how too big she was to do some gigs such as MC at events. What does the media want??? Identity is consistent battle and a struggle. Reality of the matter is that the media can and will decide what face they want and as a n individual you have to have a positive mindset... and that right attitude will guarantee a gig you deserve.

From the younger age, girls have to be taught about self-worth. We have to be true to ourselves because if one knows who they are, what somebody else says won’t bother you. Big don't mean ugly, and thin sure don't mean pretty. If a person wants to be pretty, they walk pretty, talk pretty and act pretty. Can't nobody take pretty from you.”

Quick fix for beauty

An individual’s struggle to maintain a unique identity and self-understanding apart from media influence becomes increasingly difficult.  Women and men go to the extreme as going through cosmetic surgery, also known as quick-fix for weight loss. Televisions and magazines have an influence in this by portraying surgery like a fancy, acceptable procedure that gives you best result…
Reality shows such as Doctor 90210, keeping up with the kardashians shows how cosmetics surgery such as tummy-tuck, body lift, ribs removal … (I could go on and on) could enhance their natural beauty. My point is these reality shows and magazines cover acts as the public mirror because people aspire to be like that and want to recognise themselves in the presentations in the media. However the surgeries also have many negative effects.

Looking at our very own artist Mshoza  (Nomasonto Maswanganye-Msibi) went all her way to look like a white person with skin lightening procedure, like really??? I feel like the media’s agenda has an impact in the psychological stress that most women face when it comes to their appearances. Are women disempowering themselves financially with these cosmetic surgeries to maintain their image?

Fooled by appearances

If you are a woman, you are no stranger to body policing. People will be pointing fingers at you no matter how beautiful you feel or successful you are. All women (and some men actually) can relate to the way people judge them by the flaws and what they can do to feel better.
We are seeing all these images that we must look like in order to "look good" in this product. I am naturally small-boned. I have slowly come to accept this fact. It has been a long battle that even when am skinny, I still look different from those girls
in the magazines. I have learned to accept that this is who I am and how I look with flaws and all. I was meant to be this way.

It is disturbing that people see fat and assume that someone is unhealthy. The reason that diet products and fat-free foods are largely sold and aimed at women is because some women live on diet for fear of gaining weight. When a skinny person is pounding back a double cheeseburger and washing it down with deep fried chips and large cold drink, you can be sure that they won’t be subjected to stories.

The stigma attached to being fat these days makes the larger ladies hang their head in shame regardless of how confident you are, words and fingers are hurtful for something you did not choice to be. While slender girls have fear of gaining weight but bottom line is all ladies need to feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.

From the social and media perspective, one would believe skinny people don’t get life-threateningconditions. Not even a doctor can look at a person and immediately tell that they are unhealthy.

It is time for the society to understand that beauty come in all shapes and sizes
